  • (Currently the Asheville Art Museum) ~ Edward Tilton, an advisor to the Carnegie Foundation, designed more than a hundred libraries in his
lifetime, including Pack Memorial Library (1926), a neo-classical gem. Lumberman George W. Pack, the city's foremost civic benefactor, donated
the site. A three-story entrance arch and white marble facade instill a timeless dignity. This wing of the Art Museum will be restored to its original integrity in a renovation that winds up in 2018. It will again house a library ~ this time, the Museum's own. While work advances, drop in and enjoy current exhibits in a Pop-up Museum slated to be open through the construction period.
