Asheville's temperate weather surprises many visitors. The region experiences four distinct seasons, but the average annual snowfall is never more than 11" and the hottest day rarely exceeds 90°F. 

In spring, temperatures range from the 40s to 70s Fahrenheit (5-25°C), with an average rainfall of around 3-4 inches. This season heralds the blossoming of azaleas, rhododendrons, and cherry blossoms, making it ideal for scenic hikes or picnics on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Summer brings warmer temperatures averaging in the 70s to 80s Fahrenheit (25-30°C), with occasional spikes into the 90s (30s°C) and average rainfall around 4-5 inches. It's the perfect time for outdoor activities like kayaking down the French Broad River, attending outdoor concerts, or indulging in the city's vibrant culinary scene.

In fall, temperatures cool to the 50s and 60s Fahrenheit (10-20°C), with rainfall averaging around 3-4 inches. The Blue Ridge Mountains explode into a kaleidoscope of colors as the foliage changes, creating a breathtaking backdrop for activities like apple picking, exploring the Biltmore Estate's gardens, or attending fall festivals celebrating local art and culture.

Winter in Asheville sees temperatures dipping into the 30s and 40s Fahrenheit (0-10°C), with occasional snowfall and rainfall averaging around 3-4 inches. While the city experiences fewer crowds, it's the perfect time for cozying up in mountain cabins, hitting the slopes at nearby ski resorts, or savoring seasonal treats at local breweries, coffee shops, and bakeries.
