In the crest of the Black Mountains lies the summit of Mount Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi. The 1,946-acre Mount Mitchell State Park will provide you with some of the most tranquil moments you'll ever experience.

     

    Types of Tours: Facilities include a concession stand/gift shop that is open daily from May-October. Light snacks, crafts and books may be purchased. Restaurant is open daily from May-October. Naturalist programs are offered daily during season. Self-guided tours also available. Allow 30-45 minutes for group visit. Group Policies: Free admission into park. Guided tours must be scheduled in advance. Motorcoach tip: Steep, winding roads and tunnels along the Blue Ridge Parkway with steep winding roads within the park. Travel is not advised during periods of heavy rain, fog or snow. Contact restaurant for group reservations (75 capacity). Days & Hours of Operation: May-August: 8:00am - 9:00pm
    March, April, September, October: 8:00am - 8:00pm
