Charity Art Show to Benefit Artists Devastated by Once-in-a-Century Flood
20 Local Artists Use Flood Debris as Mediums for Powerful New Works
In the wake of the devastating effects of tropical storm Helen that recently ravaged our community, an inspiring charity art show has been organized to support local artists whose livelihoods and artistry were profoundly impacted by the disaster. The exhibition, titled “ReClaim The R.A.D” will feature 20 local artists who have each created unique works using materials salvaged from the flood’s wreckage including battered street signs, broken antiques, old rail car sidings, aluminum, and wood debris. The show will be hosted at "The Czart Gallery" on Saturday, November 23rd from 5PM-10PM in West Asheville. The show offers a raw, emotional glimpse into the experiences of those affected, as each artist has used their craft to process the loss and upheaval caused by the flood. Through creativity and resilience, they’ve transformed debris into impactful artworks that tell stories of destruction, fortitude and hope.
“This exhibition is a testament to the power of art to heal and rebuild. Our goal is to raise awareness and provide direct support to these talented artists who lost so much in the flood. Every piece on display tells its own story of survival, using the materials of what was lost to create something beautiful and lasting.” said Rob Czar, Artist/Gallery Owner.
All artworks displayed at “ReClaim The R.A.D” will be available for purchase, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to benefit the participating artists who suffered losses from the flood. Funds raised will be used to help these artists rebuild their studios, replace lost equipment and supplies, and support their ongoing creative work as they recover from this unprecedented event.
